Preliminary Links
The post before this one was an article about the general protocol/procedure for a deaf patient to receive cochlear implants as an option for treatment. It discusses the preparation and precautions that need to be taken before, during, and after the initial surgery is preformed. This article also talks about the benefits, risks, and limitations of the surgery as well as the general maintenance aspects of the device itself. This article gave me and others a better idea of what it is that deaf patients undergo just to obtain treatment and the sense they have lost or have never had.
